Trump Critiques Supreme Court’s Conservative Justices
On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with conservative justices on the Supreme Court, particularly over their recent decisions regarding tariffs and an upcoming birthright citizenship case. He suggested that the court is essentially “packed” with Democratic influence.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked that he thinks Democrats are pleased with how the court is currently functioning. He stated, “Democrats can’t help but like the way the U.S. Supreme Court votes. Democratic justices stick together like glue, never wavering from the twisted and perverted policies, ideas, and cases put before them.”
He also took jabs at Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, implying that justices from one party frequently form a united front, while conservative justices often appear divided. This disunity, he argues, has allowed Democrats to secure numerous victories, including a recent ruling in which Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, and Justice Neil Gorsuch supported the repeal of tariffs arising from the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
“Republican judges are not united, handing Democrats victory after victory, including $159 billion in cash on totally ridiculous tariff decisions. Some judges have betrayed their supposed principles,” he stated.
Trump has called for more than $150 billion to be returned, referring to the tariffs as an “unexplainable” incident and a major setback for the U.S.
He criticized the court’s decisions, claiming they serve as “an unnecessary and costly slap in the face” to the nation. Furthermore, he predicted that if the court rules against the U.S. on birthright citizenship, it could result in significant financial loss and diminish the country’s dignity.
In his closing remarks, Trump asserted that Democrats wouldn’t need to “pack the courts” if given the chance, as they are perceived to be already structured in their favor.
