Investigation Underway Following Murder of Former Beauty Queen in Mexico City
A former beauty queen was discovered murdered in her apartment in Mexico City, with local reports suggesting her mother-in-law may be involved. Carolina Flores Gómez, just 27 years old, was found dead inside her luxury residence in the upscale Polanco neighborhood, according to the news agency Reporte Índigo.
Authorities have classified her death as a homicide, as preliminary investigations revealed that she had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics arrived and found no signs of life upon their arrival.
Prosecutors are probing the potential involvement of Erica María, Flores Gómez’s mother-in-law, and a man believed to be her partner or husband. A man named Alejandro has reportedly accused his mother of being the murderer, as stated by the Mexican news outlet Azteca Guerrero.
Additionally, it’s been reported that the mother-in-law was present when the firearm was discharged. Investigators are now reviewing the timeline of the incident’s reporting and the surrounding circumstances. Intriguingly, eyewitness accounts, particularly from security personnel at the building, indicate they did not hear any gunshots, which raises questions about how the crime unfolded.
Moreover, Baja California authorities are involved in the investigation, as they were alerted to the incident, according to the newspaper Diario Puntual.
Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda has expressed her condolences to Flores Gómez’s family and stressed the importance of a thorough investigation. The state prosecutor, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, noted that she is collaborating with authorities in Mexico City to further the investigation.
Flores Gómez was known for her achievements in beauty competitions, winning the title of Miss Teen Universe Baja California in 2017. Her untimely death has ignited discussions about violence against women in Mexico, with advocacy groups demanding a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
