Rise in ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ at Planned Parenthood Regional Clinics

Increasing Trend in Gender-Affirming Care

A recent report indicates a 40% rise in “gender-affirming care” at community clinics associated with family planning.

The Concerned Women Legislative Action Committee for America (CWLAC) has released a report examining 14 regional family planning systems for 2024-2025. This assessment reveals a notable increase in transgender-related care. It’s worth noting that these regions, which include coverage for one to five states, are the only ones that consistently publish annual data on gender-affirming care.

Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWLAC, expressed alarm over the growing focus on “gender-affirming care” by local Planned Parenthood offices. She referred to the organization as profiting from harm, emphasizing, “In light of these revelations, the federal government should end taxpayer contributions to Planned Parenthood. We should not be funding this evil organization.”

Planned Parenthood’s latest National Annual Report, released over Easter weekend, does not provide specific figures on gender-affirming care. Instead, it categorizes “transgender services” under “other procedures.”

The CWLAC’s analysis of the same regional reports reveals a 40% increase in abortions as well, specifically mentioning the rise in “Gender Reassignment Care” from the prior year.

In Ohio, CWLAC noted a striking increase in gender-affirming care visits, which skyrocketed from 1,874 in 2022 to 8,644 in 2024-2025. The report also highlights growth in “gender-affirming care” across various regions, including northwest Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Interestingly, the report points out that the Greater Washington and Northern Idaho areas have seen the number of such visits more than double since the previous reports. Additionally, Planned Parenthood of the Great Plains has ramped up its services significantly.

During a transition in leadership, Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania more than doubled its gender-affirming services, rising from 631 to 1,346.

Nance believes that the conversation is shifting toward safety and scientific reality, noting the contradictions that are arising. She argues that testimonies from individuals who have detransitioned highlight serious issues within gender-affirming care, framing it as bordering on fraud and medical overreach.

For example, one 22-year-old woman recently secured $2 million in damages after she was compelled to undergo a double mastectomy as a minor. Findings from a new study out of Finland challenge claims that sex-refusal treatment is life-saving, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has ceased recommendations for gender denial surgery for minors under 19.

According to Planned Parenthood’s latest national report, they performed 434,450 abortions—the highest number recorded—and reported over $2.1 billion in income, alongside a net worth exceeding $2.5 billion. The organization received $832 million from government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements, signifying an increase of $39.8 million compared to the prior report.

Nance criticized family planning activities that include gender-affirming care, describing them as an insult to the American public. She asserts that Planned Parenthood’s focus on profit undermines genuine care for young people grappling with their identities, suggesting that the organization promotes a harmful narrative rather than providing necessary mental health support.
