Paige Shiver, who accused Sherrone Moore, shares her story in a recent interview: he 'had total control over me'

In the 2025 college football season, the unexpected departure of Sherrone Moore as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines shocked many. Reports surfaced suggesting that Moore had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with an employee from the athletic department. After this relationship became public, he was fired and allegedly entered the employee’s home, threatening to take his own life.

In March, Moore entered a no-contest plea to two misdemeanor charges. By mid-April, he received a sentence of 18 months’ probation and was fined slightly over $1,000.

Paige Shiver, the Michigan State official involved, has since spoken out about her experiences with Moore, claiming he “used” his position to manipulate her.

Paige Shiver speaks out in interview

In a recent interview, which aired on Friday, Shiver discussed her troubling relationship with Moore, indicating that he had “complete control” over her life. During the interview, ABC’s Lindsey Davis posed a poignant question about the harassment and manipulation Shiver had faced. Shiver responded, expressing disbelief at how much power Moore had over her emotions and career. She revealed that every time she tried to distance herself—be it from him or the university—he would craft a narrative that drew her back in, making her feel responsible for his well-being.

Shiver’s remarks underscore the significant power imbalance in their relationship, highlighting the potential risks for both individuals involved. Moore, a prominent figure in college football, held substantial influence over Shiver’s career, which made her feel trapped, fearing repercussions if she sought help or spoke out publicly.

As the situation unfolded, Shiver expressed her dissatisfaction with Moore’s sentence, stating, “His criminal acts were extremely horrifying and violent. He broke into my apartment and attacked me with a knife, crying, screaming, furious. I was threatened and feared for my life.”

Looking ahead, Michigan will kick off the 2026 season at home against Western Michigan with Kyle Whittingham taking over as the new head coach.
