Thieneman’s NFL Draft Moment Steals the Show
Dillon Thieneman’s selection by the Chicago Bears certainly turned heads. When the No. 25 pick was announced, it marked the team’s first first-round safety draft in 36 years, and that caused quite a stir.
However, it was his sister, Keira, who captured the spotlight during an interview on ABC in Pittsburgh. She wore a striking red dress, and you could see she was nearly bursting with excitement while sitting next to their dad.
Adding to the evening’s buzz, members of Purdue’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority made waves on social media. Dillon, who hails from Oregon, anticipates similar enthusiastic support from Bears fans as he embarks on his rookie season.
The next day, Keira shared a glimpse of her journey, posting a story on her mom’s Instagram, revealing she was on a flight to Chicago.
Thieneman joins a motivated squad fresh off winning the NFC North in coach Ben Johnson’s inaugural season, in hopes of making an impact. He played two seasons at Purdue before transferring to Oregon, where his performance really took off. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 201 pounds, he tallied 95 tackles and two interceptions, earning a spot on the first-team All-Big Ten list.
Oregon had a successful season, wrapping up with a 13-2 record and making it to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Interestingly, the last time the Bears picked a safety in the first round was back in 1990 when they drafted Mark Carrier. Dillon’s selection also marks the first time since 2018 that Chicago has chosen a defensive player in the first round, the last being linebacker Roquan Smith.
