Michael Conforto Receives World Series Ring from Dodgers

Michael Conforto is enjoying what might be the best phase of his career. Reflecting on his time with the Dodgers, he expressed that last season was a valuable experience, made even sweeter by receiving the coveted World Series ring he’d aspired to win for over a decade.

Now serving as a backup outfielder for the Cubs, Conforto was honored with the championship ring just before a three-game series kick-off against his former team at Dodger Stadium. He was surrounded by familiar faces from the Dodgers organization, including Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Quique Hernandez, and Tommy Edman.

“Seeing this ring, holding it, and wearing it was one of the coolest moments of my baseball career,” Conforto remarked, obviously touched by the occasion.

Despite not making the Dodgers’ postseason roster due to a discouraging batting average of .199 last year, he still felt an integral part of the team. “It’s a bit of a strange experience for me to be back here. Even though I wasn’t on the roster, I really felt like I was part of the team and was able to support them,” he said.

While his performance wasn’t stellar, he was well-liked among teammates. Manager Dave Roberts noted, “I know he didn’t perform the way people wanted him to, but I loved what he brought to the Dodgers.” Conforto takes pride in the camaraderie he built during that time.

“I had good role models, people who taught me…that being consistent in the clubhouse is key,” he added. “You want to maintain those relationships, regardless of how you’re doing on the field.”

He also shared a memorable moment from the playoffs—sitting in the dugout during Game 7, right next to Kirby Yates, when Miguel Rojas hit a tying home run in the ninth inning.

Now with a .304 batting average entering Friday’s game, he credits the transformation to the insights he gained while with the Dodgers. “I took a lot of what I learned from last season back to Chicago and incorporated it into my offseason training,” he said.

Conforto mentioned an honest conversation he had with Roberts, where he was encouraged to focus more on playing the game effectively rather than on big hits. “We need more baseball plays,” he recounted, reflecting on the importance of teamwork and execution in his current role.
