Odell Beckham Jr.’s Future with the Giants: What’s Next?

So, will Odell Beckham Jr. return to the Giants? The team that picked him up in 2014, the one that truly showcased his talents, turning him into this larger-than-life figure known as OBJ? Well, it’s a bit up in the air at the moment.

“We haven’t made a decision yet; he hasn’t fully decided either,” said manager John Harbaugh after the Giants added three players in the recent draft. “I think we need to see where things stand next week.”

Beckham participated in workouts and physicals just last week, and initial reports indicate he did quite well. The Giants also selected another wide receiver, Malachi Fields from Notre Dame, during the draft, which might complicate Beckham’s return.

Harbaugh knows Beckham well; they played together with the Ravens in 2023.

Currently, Beckham has recorded 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games. However, he’s been out of the league for 2025 after facing a six-game suspension for breaching the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

“We worked out with him. He looked good, so we’ll keep the dialogue going,” Harbaugh mentioned. “Odell and I had a talk on Tuesday night to catch up on his thoughts, where we are in terms of the roster—I think it’s crucial to see if this makes sense for everyone involved.”

Harbaugh added, “If we go for it, it needs to be beneficial for both the Giants and for him. He is certainly at a different stage in his career.”

In his first five years with the Giants, Beckham emerged as a superstar, his persona sometimes overshadowing his on-field contributions. The franchise traded him to the Browns in 2019. Following the 2021 season, he even clinched a Super Bowl with the Rams as a key supporting player.

“What I appreciate about Odell is his newfound humility. He genuinely wants to contribute, help the younger players—that’s admirable,” Harbaugh stated.

Still, Harbaugh emphasized that Beckham needs to demonstrate he can still play at a competitive level. “He won’t be the old Odell; he’s going to be a different version, maybe a 2.0.”

The Giants are looking in good shape at wide receiver with players like Malik Nabors, Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins back, plus Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III from free agency, along with the addition of Fields from the draft.

If Beckham does end up with the Giants, it’s likely to be a one-year deal at the veteran minimum.
