Wind intensifies brush fire in OC, leading to road closures and evacuation alerts

A vegetation fire in the hills near Brea has expanded to 60 acres, leading to evacuations and significant firefighting efforts on Saturday afternoon, as reported by California Fire and Orange County officials.

This fire, named the Carbon Fire, ignited in the Carbon Canyon and Orinda Place area of unincorporated Orange County around 1:40 p.m. Saturday.

The wildfire has been spreading quickly, fueled by the dry vegetation and tough terrain.

A notice for evacuation was issued for nearby locations, affecting the residents of Hollydale and Orinda Village.

Carbon Canyon Road has been closed between Blair Hills and Ruby, and evacuees are being advised to head east on Carbon Canyon Road. Authorities are stressing the importance of keeping the area clear to allow emergency teams to operate effectively.

So far, there have been no reported injuries or structural damage. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and authorities are actively investigating the incident.
