Congressman Jim Jordan expressed concerns on Sunday about a recent assassination attempt aimed at President Donald Trump, describing it as indicative of a troubling political environment, which he attributes to left-wing rhetoric.

In an appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures,” the Ohio Republican commended Trump for his composure, stating, “Despite the last 10 years, very few people can handle things like he does.” He criticized what he sees as the left’s misuse of governmental power against Trump.

Jordan emphasized the need for an open discussion, indicating that he believes the left is obstructing meaningful dialogue. “We have an amazing thing called the First Amendment,” he said, urging for a genuine debate while dismissing some of the language used by the left as “ridiculous.”

He described the ideological clash between conservatives and liberals as one of “common sense versus insanity,” using the recent shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner as an example to advocate for enhanced security measures at the White House.

Jordan noted that the shooting on Saturday occurred at the same hotel where former President Ronald Reagan was shot, skillfully connecting past and present events to highlight perceived dangers.

During this discussion, he pointed out that Trump had started renovations on the White House to create a banquet facility, although progress has been hindered by legal disputes regarding the merits of those changes and the extent of presidential authority.

The WHCA dinner was disrupted when a suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen, managed to enter with weapons, tragically resulting in the death of a Secret Service agent before the assailant was apprehended.
