SWAT Team Arrests Suspect Dressed in Towel
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has found the body of Zamir Limon, a 27-year-old graduate student from the University of South Florida, after arresting Hisham Abugarbi. The 26-year-old is implicated in the disappearances of both Limon and Nahida Bristi, who is also 27.
According to court filings, Abugarbi inquired about disposing of bodies in a trash can just days before the alleged murders. The AI tool he consulted cautioned against such actions, to which he reportedly replied, “How do we find out?”
Abugarbi, known to be a telemarketer, stands accused of killing both Limon and Bristi. Prosecutors filed a bail application highlighting his troubling questions about how to change his car’s registration and the legality of unlicensed firearms at home. He even asked if neighbors could hear gunshots, which raises some alarming red flags.
Police discovered items belonging to Limon—his student ID, glasses, and credit card—in a trash can near their shared apartment. Further searches reportedly uncovered trash bags with bloodied clothing and Limon’s remains hidden beneath Abugarbi’s bed.
Limon’s body was ultimately identified in a black plastic bag near the Howard Frankland Bridge after he was stabbed multiple times.
During the investigation, Abugarbi provided inconsistent accounts, prompting law enforcement to track his cellphone movements. Traffic cameras placed him near the bridge around 1:30 a.m. on April 17, where he was captured using a flashlight.
Bristi remains missing, although her belongings, including shoes and a wallet, were located in the apartment. Authorities also discovered an unidentified body shortly after, with efforts underway for identification.
On Friday, Abugarbi barricaded himself in his home for more than an hour before surrendering to police, unceremoniously attired in just a towel, as captured by aerial footage.
Records reveal that Abugarbi has a history of violent behavior, with multiple incidents of assault and robbery recorded. His mother described him as having serious anger management issues. The situation escalated recently, prompting his family to seek a restraining order due to his violent outbursts.
He is currently charged with assault, false imprisonment, tampering with evidence, unlawful removal of a corpse, failure to report a death, and two counts of first-degree murder. Abugarbi remains in custody without bail at the Valkenburg Road Jail, facing the possibility of the death penalty if convicted.
