Suspected Shooter at WHCA Dinner Took Smiling Selfie Before Attempted Assassination

Attempted Assassination of Trump: Chilling Details Emerge

Cole Allen, the individual accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump, snapped a disturbing selfie before his thwarted attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.

A selfie released by prosecutors shows Allen looking into a mirror, dressed in black slacks, a dress shirt, and a red tie. He appears to have weapons strapped to him, including a firearm and several knives.

In a pretrial detention motion, prosecutors detailed the timeline of the selfie and the following attack.

“At around 8:03 p.m., the defendant returned to his hotel and took a photo of himself in the mirror,” the motion states, adding that he was also carrying ammunition.

It was further elaborated that an enhanced version of the image indicates Allen was wearing a small leather bag, resembling an ammunition bag later found on him, along with a shoulder holster, a sheathed knife that matched a recovered weapon, and tools like pliers and wire cutters.

He took this selfie about half an hour before the assassination attempt, during which the Secret Service “intercepted the defendant, armed with a 12-gauge shotgun, a .38-caliber pistol, multiple knives, and a significant amount of ammunition as he ran towards the Washington Hilton ballroom where the dinner attendees were gathered,” according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors also highlighted a manifesto in which Allen expressed his hatred for President Trump and detailed plans to kill officials from the Trump administration, except for FBI Director Kash Patel. He referred to Trump as a “pedophile, rapist, and traitor,” labeled attendees as “accomplices” for supporting him, and remarked, “If absolutely necessary, we will reach almost everyone here.”

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt attributed the violence to a toxic environment fueled by established media and left-wing politicians, claiming Allen’s manifesto echoed their harmful rhetoric.

“No one has faced more hostility and violence in recent years than President Trump. This political violence arises from the systematic demonization of him and his supporters by commentators, elected Democrats, and some in the media,” Levitt stated.

She further emphasized, “This kind of violence is encouraged by those who continuously mischaracterize the president as a fascist or a threat to democracy, even comparing him to Hitler for their political advantage.”
