Katie Porter sends fundraising email expressing anger towards Trump a day after assassination attempt

Controversy Surrounds Katie Porter’s Fundraising Email

California gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter recently came under fire for an email she sent to her donors, which included the phrase “Fuck Trump” multiple times, including in the subject line. This email went out just a day after a serious assassination attempt against President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

Porter’s campaign has faced scrutiny before. There have been incidents of her shouting at staff on camera and even threatening to walk out during interviews. These actions have led some to question her suitability to govern the state, both in California and nationally.

Republican National Committee spokesman Nick Poche slammed Porter’s email, asserting that it demonstrates she is not fit to lead. He described her as a “deranged, degenerate loser,” suggesting that her approach reflects a troubling mindset among Democratic candidates who think that resorting to inflammatory language is a viable path to victory. He also emphasized that anyone who fails to condemn her comments shares responsibility for escalating political violence.

Political Tensions Heighten

Interestingly, the email did not reference the recent assassination attempt directly. Instead, Porter’s message emphasized unity among her supporters against Trump, encouraging them to chant “Fuck Trump” together. She stated, “Yes, that’s right, damn Trump,” framing the moment as a call to action to “kick President Trump in the face in November.”

Bethany Mandel, an author and social media influencer, criticized Porter’s timing, questioning how a Republican would be treated if they behaved in a similar manner following such a serious incident involving President Obama.

Concerns Over Escalating Political Rhetoric

Fox News Digital has sought comment from Porter’s campaign regarding this issue. The backdrop of this controversy includes rising political tensions, highlighted by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who mentioned that Democrats are entering a period of “greatest war.” This rhetoric has sparked further debate, particularly given the serious nature of the threats against political figures.
