Death certificate of Celeste Rivas now states it's 'unclear' if the 14-year-old was pregnant at the time of her alleged murder by D4vd

An updated death certificate indicates that it’s “unknown” whether 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was pregnant, amid allegations surrounding her murder and dismemberment by singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

The initial certificate stated she was “not pregnant,” but this was revised on April 22 to reflect uncertainty.

This aspect emerged after court documents revealed that Burke had begun texting Celeste when she was just 11 and had sexual relations with her starting at 13—significantly below the legal age of consent in California.

Prosecutors mentioned that Burke had communicated with Rivas about pregnancy and abortion when Rivas was 13 and he was 18.

RJ Drieling, a criminal defense attorney and former deputy district attorney, noted that Burke could face more serious charges if it were established that Rivas was pregnant at the time of her death. “If she was seven or eight weeks along, even if he didn’t know, he could still be charged with murder in that context,” Drieling stated.

Burke, now 21, faces a murder charge in connection with Rivas’ death, which was discovered seven months later in the trunk of his abandoned Tesla.

Allegations claim Burke summoned Rivas to his Hollywood Hills home via Uber on April 23, 2025, following a dispute where he threatened to damage his career by exposing their relationship.

Prosecutors assert he then stabbed her and waited until she bled to death. Afterward, it is alleged that Burke used a chainsaw in his garage to dismember her body before discarding it in his car.

The indictment outlines a confrontation the night before the murder, driven by Burke’s jealousy over Rivas’ connections with another woman, leading to threats regarding disclosing incriminating details about their relationship.

Prosecutors believe that fear of how allegations of his actions with Rivas might threaten his music career served as the motive for the crime.

The two reportedly met in January 2022 when Rivas was 13 and Burke 18, initiating a sexual relationship later that year.

Burke has been charged with first-degree murder, continuous sexual conduct, and other offenses involving a minor. He pleaded not guilty to these charges earlier this month.
