Anne Hathaway praised for the Knicks' remarkable playoff success

Knicks Fans Celebrate Hathaway’s Influence After Playoff Win

New York Knicks supporters were particularly grateful to actress Anne Hathaway following the team’s impressive win against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 of their playoff series on Thursday night.

Hathaway, a devoted Knicks enthusiast and a familiar face in Madison Square Garden’s Celebrity Row, seemed to spark some positive vibes for the team during her appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon the night before. She even mentioned she was “considering wearing the OG uniform,” referring to a player known as Anunoby.

The team’s star forward certainly showed up, scoring 29 points during New York’s 140-89 decisive victory just a day later. He recorded seven rebounds and four steals in a mere 27 minutes at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

It’s uncertain whether Anunoby took note of Hathaway’s comments, but there is talk that her words had a profound impact.

One fan expressed, “Thank you Anne Hathaway for unleashing the inner demons of OG Anunoby,” in a post on X, where clips of her time on the late-night show were shared.

Another fan chimed in, thanking Hathaway for making Anunoby seem almost god-like after his standout performance.

As part of her promotional efforts for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” Hathaway sported a stylish blue-and-orange Knicks pocket square, which even included a cameo from Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns.

Since the film’s release in New York last week, fans have noted improvements in Towns’ performance stats.

Towns achieved impressive triple-doubles in both Games 4 and 6, racking up 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in Thursday’s match. Additionally, Knicks guard Mikal Bridges contributed significantly, scoring 24 points, marking a notable achievement in the team’s playoff history.

This isn’t the first time Hathaway and Anunoby have crossed paths. Back in 2024, Anunoby almost collided with her courtside during a game at Madison Square Garden.

Later on, Hathaway expressed her appreciation for that close encounter in an Instagram video, saying, “I always hoped that would happen,” and Fallon even played the clip during their recent show.
