Celebration in New York for Knicks Championship
Thursday turned into quite the spectacle as the streets were filled with a star-studded motorcade.
Knicks fans celebrated with a lively parade through the Canyon of Heroes, marking the team’s first NBA championship victory since 1973. It was a big deal—it felt almost surreal for many.
Jalen Brunson’s favorite celebrity, Mariska Hargitay, was on the Finals MVP float alongside her son August, who funnily sported a shirt saying “Marknikska Hargitay.” It was really a cute moment.
The “Law & Order: SVU” star was clearly in her element, dancing and waving to the enthusiastic crowd along the route.
She joined Brunson’s family for the parade, and they’ve developed a close friendship over the past few seasons.
After New York’s thrilling Game 4 win at Madison Square Garden, Hargitay shared a heartfelt moment with Brunson, expressing her excitement with an emotional “I love you so much, I’m so happy!”
Also riding on Brunson’s float was filmmaker Spike Lee, a die-hard Knicks fan and season ticket holder since 1985. He mentioned that this was his first parade experience, and it felt pretty special.
Comedian Tracy Morgan was present too, donning an Anthony Mason jersey, while actor Ben Stiller was spotted wearing a Karl-Anthony Towns shirt and a Knicks cap, filming the event on his iPhone for a documentary about the team’s amazing season.
Some award-winning actors and comedians even shared a video where a fan dressed as Jalen Brunson got to FaceTime the star. It really captured the joy of the day.
Timothée Chalamet, who played a significant role in the Knicks’ recent postgame celebrations, also rode on a float with his father during the festivities.
Among the former Knicks players at the event was Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who was seen leading a car with his name stitched on it, an iconic figure in Knicks history.
Patrick Ewing greeted fans excitedly before hopping into his car. Carmelo Anthony, too, made an appearance, waving from a float as he celebrated with the crowd.
Martha Stewart was seen enjoying the parade, even taking a photo with Brunson, while actor John Turturro celebrated with his family, capturing the spirit of the occasion.
Other notable attendees included Jon Stewart, Fat Joe, Edie Falco, and Matthew Modine, each adding to the festive atmosphere.
The parade began at Battery Park and concluded at City Hall, where a ceremony awaited, featuring Mike Breen and Mayor Zoran Mamdani presenting the keys to the city to the Knicks team.
