Assassination Attempt at WHCD Exposes Media Bias
At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a tense moment occurred when another individual aimed to assassinate President Trump, with journalists from various political backgrounds in attendance.
Amidst this threat, Sarah Gonzalez, a host on Blaze TV, expressed her belief that the media’s coverage only exemplified their inherent bias and hypocrisy. “When he was facing another assassination attempt right in front of them, you’d think they might report on it with some fairness, but that’s not what happened,” she stated.
She criticized the media’s self-importance, suggesting that their focus is often more on themselves than on accurate reporting. Playing a clip from CBS News reporter Weijia Jiang, she pointed to the unsatisfactory coverage of the incident.
Jiang commented, “This is a room full of reporters, so you should’ve seen the president’s tweet by now… Law enforcement had to ask them to leave according to protocol.” She argued that journalism should serve the public by confronting crises, especially when First Amendment freedoms are at stake.
In response, Gonzalez pointed out how the media often misrepresents facts and incites a small group of activists against Trump. Referring to a CNN journalist who implied Trump wanted “the death of journalism,” she expressed her skepticism towards their narrative.
Unfortunately, as time passed, the coverage reportedly deteriorated further. Gonzalez labeled an interview segment with Norah O’Donnell from 60 Minutes as one of the most disingenuous reports, highlighting O’Donnell’s inquiries about a manifesto that contained violent statements directed at political figures.
Trump’s reaction to O’Donnell’s question was sharp and dismissive. “I knew you would read it because you’re terrible people,” he said, affirming his innocence against the accusations. Gonzalez echoed Trump’s sentiment, criticizing O’Donnell for her approach.
She concluded by urging the media to reflect on their actions and behavior, saying, “Please stop embarrassing yourself.”
