Conservatives Urged to Challenge California’s Election Practices
There’s a growing sentiment among conservatives that California’s election processes shouldn’t be seen as beyond reproach. Liz Wheeler, a host at Blaze TV, voices a strong opinion on this, suggesting that accepting what some deem election fraud in California is unnecessary.
Wheeler emphasizes the importance of national oversight, saying, “The federal government has much to do to ensure the integrity of California’s elections.” She expresses concern that failing to address election integrity could jeopardize the essence of the constitutional republic that has existed.
Despite concerns, she insists she’s undeterred. “The radical left has succeeded in many areas, yet we haven’t been completely overrun. Recognizing our political adversary is crucial for building a robust defense against them,” she asserts.
While Wheeler acknowledges that California’s political landscape is heavily tilted left, she remains optimistic about potential shifts. She notes that when states receive federal funding, there are ways for the federal government to incentivize or even pressure states into adopting certain measures.
She references examples like changes to drinking age laws, explaining that these federal mandates were justified under the General Welfare Clause. “The Reagan administration didn’t overstep its bounds; it connected the drinking age to highway safety,” she elaborates, attributing the success of such laws to a mix of incentives and penalties.
Moreover, Wheeler discusses existing federal precedents that show states can be influenced to change local laws through federal funding dependencies. She poses a thought-provoking question: “Why isn’t President Trump taking action on this?”
