Missouri Domino's driver charged with striking customer with car for not leaving a tip

A Domino’s Pizza delivery driver in Missouri is facing serious charges after allegedly hitting a customer with his vehicle during an argument over a tip. Zachary Nicholas Walton, 36, was arrested on April 29 in Fulton and now faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault and armed criminal action. As of now, he is being held without bail, according to jail records.

The incident reportedly unfolded around 7:21 p.m. when authorities were called to a residence for a crash that resulted in injuries. Witnesses stated that the driver grew agitated during the delivery and intentionally hit the customer with his car.

When police arrived, they spoke with both the victim and witnesses, who described how things escalated quickly. The victim recounted that Walton became upset over not receiving a tip, leading to an argument.

Surveillance footage revealed that Walton initiated the confrontation by shouting profanities and labeling the victim and witnesses as “disrespectful.” He allegedly taunted them with comments like, “What are you going to do? Come get me?” before returning to his vehicle.

However, the situation didn’t stop there. According to the affidavit, Walton got back into his car and reversed into the driveway. At this moment, the victim was walking down the driveway, unable to stop Walton from leaving.

Once nearly fully in the road, Walton reportedly shifted his car into drive and accelerated toward the victim, striking him. This impact caused the victim to climb into the vehicle to avoid more serious injuries, and he later reported visible wounds on his hands and pain in his shins.

Walton then allegedly sped away from the scene without notifying authorities. Later, he was found at a nearby Domino’s Pizza, where he admitted to driving toward the victim but claimed it was merely to “scare him,” according to court documents.

Investigators noted that Walton has a history of convictions in Callaway County for domestic assault and false imprisonment, for which he had previously served time. Authorities contend that his actions—using his vehicle in such a manner and fleeing the scene—demonstrate a blatant disregard for public safety and present a significant danger to others.

Efforts have been made to reach Domino’s Pizza for a comment regarding the incident.
