Trump Speaks to Seniors in Florida’s The Villages
On Friday, President Trump addressed seniors in Florida’s The Villages, emphasizing his administration’s achievements aimed at improving affordability for older Americans.
“I might be younger than many of you, but I can definitely relate,” joked the 79-year-old president at what is known as the largest retirement community in the world. His administration has implemented numerous policies to support seniors.
He celebrated the “largest tax refund in history” that seniors received this year, thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
“In Florida alone, we have allocated over $13 billion to 2.5 million seniors,” he stated.
This funding translates to more financial freedom to visit grandchildren, enjoy trips, and have family dinners.
Trump noted that “more than 51 million older Americans now have zero federal tax rates,” a result of last summer’s Omnibus Agenda Act.
He engaged the audience by asking about their preferred tax plans from the One Big Beautiful Bill, receiving particularly enthusiastic responses for the non-taxable Social Security benefits.
During the event, he invited a Villages resident on stage, who expressed her surprise at her tax return, noting it was more than she and her husband had anticipated. “We were thrilled… it was double what we expected,” Mary Alice shared. She added that they used the refund for a new roof.
“We’re delighted we didn’t have to drain our savings for that, and it’s all thanks to not having to pay taxes on Social Security,” she remarked.
Trump declared, “Our country is on the upswing again,” telling attendees, “This isn’t just your golden age; it’s America’s golden age.”
The president took time to criticize former President Biden, claiming that under his administration, older Americans faced “the worst inflation in history” that devastated their finances.
“We are defending seniors like no other administration has in the past,” Trump asserted.
He also highlighted his “war on fraud,” aimed at protecting Medicare and Medicaid from exploitation, and described reforms that have drastically reduced the time necessary for Medicare prior authorization. “What used to take forever now takes just minutes,” he boasted.
Trump further discussed expanding outpatient coverage to alleviate significant costs that seniors were previously incurring.
He touted the “Most Favored Nation Agreement,” which he claimed provides discounts of up to 800% on certain prescription drugs. “We have achieved the largest reductions ever,” Trump stated.
“Our prescription drug prices are now the lowest in the world,” he added.
When talking about the economy, he noted that the stock market reached record highs by the end of his first year in office. “Your 401k is at an all-time peak,” he emphasized.
He urged seniors to vote in the upcoming November elections, cautioning that if Congressional Democrats “get their way,” they would face increased taxes and costs. “They charge us a high price, and if they take charge, we’ll pay it again,” he warned. “You need to make your voices heard in the midterms.”
