Martha Stewart’s Iced Vodka Hack Returns

With the Kentucky Derby happening and the summer season in full swing, Martha Stewart’s long-loved iced vodka method is making a comeback. This eye-catching and functional approach—keeping bottles super cold for display—has gained traction online, gathering millions of views.

Stewart’s unique presentation, featuring a bottle of vodka encased in ice decorated with flowers, is again inspiring people to give it a try. “Iced vodka is one of my favorites,” Stewart mentioned in a recently re-shared clip. “Creating a beautiful presentation by encasing a vodka bottle in a block of ice with flowers is really easy.”

To execute this, she places a bottle of vodka inside a milk carton, removes the top, arranges flowers around it, and fills the carton with cold water before freezing. “A fifth of a vodka fits perfectly in a half-gallon container,” she explained, adding cherry blossoms and quince branches as decoration.

After freezing, peeling off the carton reveals an ice block adorned with floral patterns. Beyond its beauty, Stewart notes there are practical benefits; extremely cold vodka can slightly alter the texture and taste. “Freezing really enhances the flavor of this almost bland liquor,” she said, while beverage experts agree that chilling vodka can reduce the alcohol “burn,” leading to a smoother experience.

The trick has garnered praise online. One TikToker expressed admiration, saying, “Leave it to Martha to come up with this amazing presentation.” Another chimed in, “That’s too much, Martha, I love you.” Some viewers were so inspired that they started shopping for milk and flowers to try the hack themselves.

Many fondly recall watching her give similar tips on her long-running daytime show, “Martha Stewart Living.” One fan reminisced, stating, “My 12-year-old self was surprised, shocked, and appalled.” Others noted their mothers used to create this for parties. Yet, not everyone is convinced. One commenter wondered if the presentation could truly mask the vodka taste, likening it to rubbing alcohol.

Though some are skeptical about its practicality—especially if the ice melts—others suggest placing the bottle on a tray to catch any condensation and using a dish towel for better handling. Stewart encourages creativity, suggesting swaps for seasonal items like citrus slices or herbs for a fresh take. For an even better visual, she recommends using clear ice made with distilled or boiled water.
