Secret Service Agent Arrested Following Incident at Miami Hotel
A Secret Service agent was arrested and subsequently put on administrative leave after an incident at a Miami hotel, where he allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior in front of guests, according to authorities and various reports.
John Spielman, 33, faces charges of indecent assault stemming from an incident that occurred Sunday night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport and Convention Center. This information comes from court records.
As noted in an arrest report, a hotel guest reported that Spielman was in the lobby around midnight and followed that guest to his room. Later, other guests saw him engaging in the act near his room on the sixth floor and promptly notified hotel security.
When security personnel arrived, they discovered the Secret Service agent “with his pants down and masturbating,” as indicated by the investigative documents.
Originally from Marble Falls, Texas, Spielman is stationed in Washington, DC. Reports reveal that he was in South Florida to gain insights into security perimeter inspections at Trump National Doral, likely in preparation for a visit from former President Trump for the 2026 PGA Cadillac Championship.
At the time of the incident, he was off-duty. The Secret Service has placed him on administrative leave while both a criminal and internal inquiry unfolds, as stated in a release.
Secret Service Director Richard McCauley emphasized that the alleged actions are unacceptable and contradict the standards of professionalism expected from employees. He reassured that the agency treats such matters very seriously, confirming that Spielman is on administrative leave pending a thorough investigation.
Spielman was taken into custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he was held on a bond of $1,000, according to jail records.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to requests for comments. Spielman is set to return to court on May 27th.
