On Monday, Florida authorities reported a tragic shooting that resulted in the deaths of three generations of a family, including a 4-month-old infant and a 4-year-old child. This incident unfolded at two separate scenes, causing significant distress in the community.
Officers responded to a disturbance in a residential area of Plant City early Sunday morning. Upon arrival, they discovered four individuals had been shot. The two young children were pronounced dead at the scene, while their 28-year-old mother was later taken to the hospital, where she also succumbed to her injuries. Remarkably, a third child was uninjured.
The investigation quickly connected this incident to a nearby location, where the children’s 55-year-old grandmother was found deceased from gunshot wounds. She was identified as the mother of the 28-year-old victim.
Authorities suspect that the shooter walked between the two locations during the early morning hours and are currently scouring the city for potential evidence.
Detectives are reaching out to local residents and businesses to assist in examining surveillance footage from the hours between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday. They’re particularly interested in footage showing a woman accompanied by three young children near North Barton Street and West Tever Street.
Neighbors have shared that there were signs of trouble leading up to the shooting. John Czarniak, a local resident, mentioned that there was a “disagreement” involving the couple prior to the police being called on Friday. He noted witnessing suspicious activity the night before the shooting, including a man wearing a bulletproof vest loading a large bag into his car.
The situation has left the community shaken. Neighbor Jodi Cott expressed her concern, stating, “We are devastated. It’s scary to see what’s going on.” She emphasized the need for support, saying, “From what I see, they’re going to need all the prayers.”
As of now, police haven’t disclosed the identities of the victims or the potential suspect. The motive behind this tragic event remains unclear, and the investigation is still active. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Plant City Police Department or submit tips anonymously.
