Three Burlington stores in California set to open in May 2026

Bargain seekers in California are in for some good news. Burlington is set to open 26 new stores across the United States this month, with several locations in California as the retailer focuses on boosting its brick-and-mortar presence.

These openings will span 20 states, including Texas, Ohio, and South Carolina, and are part of Burlington’s strategy to launch over 110 new stores in 2026 alone.

For shoppers in California, this means more chances to find discounted brand-name products without needing to shop online.

CEO Michael O’Sullivan expressed that providing exceptional value on popular and branded items is central to their mission. He noted that customers can expect new stores filled with great deals and fresh merchandise.

Alongside expanding its locations, Burlington is revamping its store layouts, introducing wider aisles, clearer designs, and eye-catching signage, all aimed at enhancing the in-store experience. However, the classic thrill of the “treasure hunt” remains intact, even with these updates.

Unlike many competitors, Burlington does not operate online, opting instead for a hands-on shopping experience that has seemingly paid off. The company has reported steady growth, with sales climbing from $9.7 billion in 2023 to $11.5 billion in 2025, even while many other retailers are closing their doors.

And Burlington isn’t slowing down. The company plans to add 500 net new stores by 2028, supported by a new, expansive distribution center being built in Arizona. This facility, boasting 2 million square feet, is expected to enhance operations significantly by 2028.

But for now, the emphasis is on expansion, and California is right in the thick of it.

Upcoming Burlington openings in California include:

  • May 8 – Santa Clarita: 26583 Dr. Karl Boyer
  • May 15 – Bakersfield: 3010 Ming Ave.
  • May 22 – Manteca: 2210 Daniels St.
