Lawsuit by 'Teen Bride' Set to Go to Trial Against Steven Tyler

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Faces Civil Lawsuit for Alleged Past Crimes

Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, is set to appear in civil court facing accusations of grooming, sexually assaulting, and impregnating a 16-year-old named Julia Misley during the 1970s.

Notably, Tyler’s autobiography, which features comments about his “teenage bride,” may serve as crucial evidence in the case.

Misley initially filed her lawsuit in 2022, but many claims have been dismissed due to statutes of limitations. Still, Tyler reportedly took Misley on tour across the United States during the three years they were involved, including a performance in California. Thanks to California’s “look back” law, such cases can still proceed.

According to the lawsuit, after they met at an Aerosmith concert in 1973, Tyler, then 26, allegedly “performed various criminal sexual acts” on Misley that evening.

The lawsuit also claims that Tyler pressured her to undergo an abortion following their interactions.

Significantly, it is alleged that Tyler confessed to his actions in his 2011 autobiography. An excerpt reads:

She was 16 years old and knew how to be mean…I was 26 years old, barely old enough to drive a car, and she was sexy as hell, so I fell head over heels in love with her. …She was my heart’s desire and my partner in crime of passion. …I fell in love and almost took a teenage bride. I stayed at her parents’ house for a few nights. And her parents fell in love with me and signed a paper asking me to have custody so they wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour.

This admission raises serious concerns, especially given the notion that her parents allegedly agreed to let Tyler take their teenage daughter with him.

In March 2023, Tyler rejected all allegations, claiming the relationship was consensual and asserting he had “immunity or qualified immunity” as her “caregiver and/or guardian.”

The lawsuit also mentions that Tyler convinced her parents to grant him guardianship through “various promises and inducements” to her mother.

You can’t help but think that in a just world, both the parents would also face serious consequences for their actions.

Some might argue that Tyler’s autobiography only adds to the shocking narrative, calling for accountability for his actions portrayed in such a troubling manner.

Ultimately, Tyler’s attorney insists that the lawsuit is centered around an incident from over 50 years ago in California, framing it as a legal overreach.

This case serves as a stark reminder that past actions can catch up with individuals, no matter how much time has gone by.
