NBA Pre-Game Roast With Draymond Green

This past Wednesday on “Inside the NBA,” things took a humorous turn with Draymond Green at the desk, making it feel less like a pregame show and more like a light-hearted roast session.

As the discussion circled around the struggling Golden State Warriors, Charles Barkley didn’t hold back. He was quick to remind everyone of the challenges faced by the Warriors, stating, “It’s over for the Warriors. I mean no disrespect. It’s over for all the old teams.” His point? The aging roster has seen better days, with Green and Steph Curry not exactly in their prime anymore.

Barkley acknowledged the Warriors’ remarkable past but emphasized that time waits for no athlete. “Sports are for young people… no one wins at 37, 38 years old,” he said bluntly.

Of course, Draymond wasn’t about to sit back and take that lightly. He responded by poking fun at Barkley’s own career, specifically referencing his time with the Houston Rockets, saying, “Yeah, I think the goal is to not look like you in a Houston Rockets uniform.” The jab clearly struck a chord, as Barkley’s later years didn’t quite match his MVP days.

Green then pivoted to discussing the Warriors’ current state, acknowledging that the team is indeed transitioning. Yet, he suggested there’s more to life beyond the win-loss record, commenting, “I understand that winning a championship might not be realistic, but can I continue to achieve that goal to stay in a great space after I leave this organization?” It’s a deep thought, revealing a layer of introspection amidst the banter.

This year, however, has been a tough reality check for Warriors fans. They managed to finish 10th in the Western Division but were eliminated quickly in the play-in tournament. While Barkley perceives the team’s decline, Draymond seems determined to keep pushing forward, perhaps signaling he’s not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
