Chirayu Rana, a former JPMorgan banker, has enlisted a lawyer known for handling high-profile cases, including those involving Epstein, as he fights against the bank over allegations that he was coerced into a “sex slave” situation.
Daniel Kaiser, a partner at the law firm Kaiser, Thorborn & Mair in New York City, is representing the 35-year-old billionaire, referred to as “John Doe” in court documents. Rana filed a sensational lawsuit against JPMorgan Managing Director Lorna Hadjidini last week, claiming she made “fabricated” accusations about drugging and sexually assaulting him.
JPMorgan has strongly denied these claims, stating that the allegations are entirely baseless. A spokesperson indicated that an internal investigation yielded no evidence to support Rana’s assertions, highlighting that he “refused to participate and provide facts” backing up his claims.
Interestingly, Rana’s original filing, which cited emotional distress and damage to his reputation, was removed from the court’s records shortly after submission and labeled as “remanded for correction.” It was later refiled with numerous new claims that seemed, well, a bit outlandish.
“Today, a motion was filed for my client seeking an order allowing John Doe proceedings,” Kaiser mentioned in an email during the re-filing, stressing that there was more evidence related to Rana’s claims.
According to sources familiar with the situation, JPMorgan offered Rana $1 million to withdraw the charges, but he refused, instead asking for over $20 million.
Kaiser, interestingly, didn’t respond to requests for comments on the matter.
He is also representing several women in claims against the notorious sex trafficker Epstein, who died by suicide in a Manhattan prison in 2019. Among these women is Jennifer Araoz, who asserts she was groomed for sex starting at the age of 14.

A few days following Epstein’s death, Kaiser discussed Araoz’s mindset and the status of the lawsuit against Epstein’s estate on MSNBC. He also mentioned Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of aiding Epstein in recruiting young girls.
“Jennifer feels a bit angry that Mr. Epstein won’t be around to face justice,” Kaiser remarked, expressing her frustration at missing the chance to see him held accountable in court. “Yet, she’s determined to pursue this. She’s filing a civil lawsuit to seek justice from both Epstein’s estate and those who supported him. He had quite a few backers.”
Previously, Mr. Kaiser had opted not to elaborate further on Rana’s case through a spokesperson, though he noted that his client’s claims are valid. He suggested the Post would be “embarrassed” once all the evidence became public, regarding the attention the lawsuit has garnered.
