Disney Responds to Kidnapping of Immigration Officials
Recently, Disney issued a statement following the kidnapping of several immigration officials from its cruise ship in San Diego during a significant child pornography operation.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed to the California Post that 28 workers from five different vessels were arrested between April 23 and April 25 as part of an ongoing enforcement operation targeting child sex exploitation.
The company clarified that most of those detained were not Disney employees and emphasized its commitment to working alongside law enforcement.
“Our company has a zero-tolerance policy regarding this type of behavior and is fully cooperating with law enforcement,” a Disney spokesperson mentioned.
Additionally, the spokesperson noted, “The majority of these individuals were not employees of our cruise lines, and those individuals are no longer with us.”
Disney did not disclose the specific number of its employees who were arrested. Immigration authorities previously apprehended the officials in front of surprised cruise ship passengers.
Dalmi Mehta, a passenger who filmed the incident, stated that one of those arrested had been a crew member during her five-day trip last month.
Mehta described the scene, saying, “He was in uniform, a blazer and tie. Some of the other employees were still wearing their chef’s uniforms with name tags.” She expressed that the arrest was “really disturbing.”
According to immigration groups, ten crew members from the Disney ship have been arrested.
CBP mentioned that 26 crew members from the five vessels were Filipino, with one each from Portugal and Indonesia.
The agency determined that “all of the subjects were involved in either receiving, possessing, transporting, distributing, or viewing child sexual exploitation material,” subsequently revoking their visas and deporting them from the United States.
