WWE is back at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall for Raw and SmackDown

WWE to Return to Atlantic City

When Bruce Springsteen sang about meeting someone in Atlantic City, he likely wasn’t imagining a wrestling event. However, in just a few weeks, a WWE Superstar may bring that idea to life.

WWE announced on Thursday that both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown will be broadcast live from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This marks the venue’s first televised wrestling event in nearly two decades.

The double taping of Raw and Smackdown is scheduled for June 29th. Gary Musick, the president and CEO of Visit Atlantic City, expressed excitement about WWE’s return, calling it “another exciting chapter” for the city as an entertainment hub. “From iconic WrestleMania moments to spectacular performances today, Atlantic City consistently provides a vibrant experience for visitors all year round,” he stated.

Musick further emphasized that hosting such a high-profile event as Monday Night Raw demonstrates their commitment to attracting globally recognized happenings, enhancing the lively atmosphere characteristic of Atlantic City.

The last time WWE held a televised event at this location was Smackdown in 2008. Notably, WrestleMania 4 and 5 took place in Atlantic City in 1988 and 1989, respectively. Jim MacDonald, from the Oakview Group and general manager of Boardwalk Hall, noted the venue’s historical connection with WWE and expressed gratitude for the partnerships bringing these major events back. He mentioned looking forward to welcoming WWE and its passionate fanbase back to the hall.

As for which WWE Superstars might make an appearance, well, that remains a mystery.

Atlantic City isn’t far from Philadelphia, the birthplace of Extreme Championship Wrestling. With local favorites like Liv Morgan and AJ Lee hailing from New Jersey, fans may have something to look forward to on those nights.
