Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle Lawsuit
Blake Lively has reportedly upped the stakes following her settlement with Justin Baldoni, now seeking potentially tens of millions of dollars in damages from him and others involved in the legal dispute.
Legal documents reveal that Lively’s attorneys have dismissed Baldoni’s previous $400 million defamation lawsuit as unfounded and retaliatory. The actress claims that this countersuit was filed as a method of punishment for her having come forward with allegations of sexual harassment.
Lively’s request includes extensive monetary relief, incorporating attorney fees and punitive damages. This request signifies a significant intensification of an already contentious legal situation, with Lively aiming to hold Baldoni accountable financially.
A representative for Lively described the settlement as a major win for her, asserting that Baldoni and other defendants now face personal liability for what they characterized as a misuse of the legal system aimed at silencing Lively.
According to the representative, “This settlement acknowledges that Ms. Lively’s concerns were valid, ending the narrative that she had made up her allegations of harassment.” They further emphasized Lively’s commitment to exposing individuals who allegedly use smear tactics and retaliatory lawsuits to intimidate those who come forward.
In contrast, Baldoni’s camp has pushed back against these claims, heralding their side as the victor and claiming that Lively’s latest actions hold little merit. A spokesperson for Baldoni stated that the court previously dismissed many of Lively’s allegations, arguing that she and her team settled due to an awareness of their weak position in court.
The lawsuit originated from incidents during the filming of “Seraph of the End,” and Lively had initially filed her claims of sexual harassment against Baldoni in late 2024. She detailed graphic allegations that included retaliation and emotional distress. These claims were part of a broader legal battle that has lasted nearly two years.
Lively’s further lawsuit highlighted a purported campaign by influential insiders to damage her reputation in the aftermath of these allegations. However, the judge ultimately narrowed the focus of the case, dismissing most of Lively’s claims aside from those pertaining to retaliation and contract breaches.
Finally, a notification filed by both Lively and Baldoni indicated that they have come to a resolution that will prevent either party from bringing these same claims forward in the future.
