White House Responds to Mark Hamill’s Controversial Post
On Thursday, the White House criticized actor Mark Hamill, labeling him a “sick man” after he shared a mock image depicting a deceased President Trump in a grave.
The 74-year-old, known for his role as Luke Skywalker, posted the AI-created image on Blue Sky, which featured Trump beneath a tombstone inscribed with “Donald J. Trump: 1946-2024” and the phrase “If so.”
The government’s Rapid Response 47 account echoed the sentiment, stating, “Mark Hamill is sick.”
In the post, Hamill expressed his disdain for Trump, coinciding with recent events surrounding a suspect arrested for attempting to assassinate the president and his staff during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“If only,” Hamill mused about Trump’s fictional grave, “he should witness his unavoidable defeat in the upcoming midterm elections, face repercussions for severe corruption, and be impeached, convicted, and humiliated for numerous crimes.”
He further stated, “Just long enough to understand he will go down in history as forever disgraced. #don_TheCON.”
Hamill, a well-known critic of Trump, has a history of disparaging the former president. He had once considered leaving the U.S. for either Britain or Ireland following Trump’s 2024 election victory but ultimately decided against it, swayed by his wife’s perspective.
Reflecting on his feelings then, Hamill shared, “She’s very smart. A week later, she remarked, ‘I’m surprised you would allow someone to be deported from your country.’ I thought, ‘I’m not leaving here.’”
The White House had previously taken a playful jab at him, comparing his threat to leave the country to that of Rosie O’Donnell, who famously moved to Ireland after the election. A spokesperson noted, “Now that Mark has chosen to stay, he will experience many victories that President Trump has achieved for the American people.”
Interestingly, this latest critique from Hamill came shortly after he appeared alongside former President Barack Obama in a video celebrating “Star Wars Day” on May 4th.
