Eva O’Connor, girlfriend of outfielder Spencer Jones, expressed her excitement on social media after he was called up by the Yankees due to Jasson Dominguez’s injury during a recent game.
“Let’s go, baby! You’re the most deserving and amazing man. I love you!” she posted on her Instagram Story, which featured a breaking MLB news update, a fire emoji, and a blue heart.
Jon Heyman from The Post was the first to report this news.
Jones, who is ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 6 prospect, has started the season strong with 11 home runs and a league-high 41 RBIs in Triple-A.
This 24-year-old player is getting his chance in the MLB in 2026, although he has faced challenges, particularly with strikeouts; he has struck out 46 times in 33 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
His promotion comes after Dominguez collided with the outfield wall while making a catch in New York’s win over the Texas Rangers. Dominguez had stepped in for the injured Giancarlo Stanton and had an emotional exit from the game.
An MRI showed that he sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder, prompting his placement on the injured list.
After the game on Thursday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Jones’ recent performance, highlighting his consistent batting. “I feel like I’ve had a lot of consistent at-bats the last three or four weeks. I’m getting more power. I’m making fewer swings and fewer mistakes. … The signs are encouraging,” Boone noted.
Jones is set to play for the Yankees in their upcoming matchup against the Brewers on Friday.
