Helicopter Crew Rescues Injured Hiker from Australian Mountain

Footage depicts a rescue operation involving a helicopter in Moogerah Peaks National Park, located in southeastern Queensland. A woman in her twenties suffered an ankle injury after a fall, which left her unable to make her way down the mountain. Authorities have confirmed that a helicopter was dispatched after the incident, with paramedics winched into the area to provide treatment and assistance to two individuals.

In a separate incident, a hiker who had been missing in a Montana national park was discovered deceased on Wednesday. Authorities have indicated that a bear attack is the suspected cause of death.

The body was located by search and rescue teams around noon, approximately 4.1 miles up Mount Brown Trail in Glacier National Park, as announced by park representatives. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed yet.

Officials noted that the injuries sustained were consistent with a bear encounter. They specified that the hiker was found roughly 50 feet from the trail, nestled in a wooded area cluttered with fallen trees. Wildlife and law enforcement officials are currently monitoring the location for signs of bear activity and other safety concerns for the public.

The area has been shuttered as investigations into the apparent attack continue.

Reportedly, the last message from the hiker was sent around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, in which he detailed plans to trek toward the Brown Mountain Fire Lookout. He was reported missing the following day.

This marks the first fatal bear attack in Glacier National Park since 1998, with the prior fatality occurring in August 2025.

Authorities estimate there are about 1,000 black bears and grizzly bears within the park, with approximately 300 grizzlies identified in the area this year.

In an earlier incident, two hikers aged 15 and 28 sustained serious injuries due to a bear attack in Yellowstone National Park. Officials there stated they believe a female grizzly bear with two or three one-year-old cubs was involved.
