Barry Drewitt Barlow’s Controversial Legal Troubles
Billionaire Barry Drewitt Barlow, age 57, who owns the Isthmian League football club Maldon and Tiptree, has been a longtime advocate for the rights of gay individuals to have children, especially through surrogacy.
In 1999, Drewitt Barlow, alongside Tony Barlow, became the first gay couple in Britain to register as ‘parents’ through surrogacy, a process that cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars. Eventually, they opted to have five children via four American surrogate mothers. However, controversies arose when Drewitt Barlow left his partner for a much younger ex-boyfriend of one of the girls.
Prosecutors in Britain have claimed that “they groomed them,” referring to accusations involving an ex-boyfriend who now stays at Drewitt Barlow’s residence in Florida. This individual has since found new strength, reportedly having fathered another child through in vitro fertilization, followed by two more.
While Barry Drewitt-Barlow has taken up painting, he is presently facing backlash over how he allegedly interacted with elderly individuals regarding the acquisition of children.
He and his partner Scott Drewitt Barlow were recently arrested in Essex, England, and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and exploitation. These charges arose after Drewitt Barlow allegedly stated on television that he spent over $68,000 on a supermodel’s eggs to decrease the likelihood of having what he termed an “ugly” child.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service reported that an elderly gay man has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and four counts of rape against a male aged over 16, along with charges related to arranging travel for exploitation purposes.
Both Barry and Scott Drewitt Barlow face serious accusations, including targeting and grooming young men. Their attorney has vehemently denied the charges.
In a dramatic turn of events, police conducted raids at the couple’s residence and Drewitt-Barlow’s pub in Braintree.
