Philadelphia Game Update
PHILADELPHIA — Once again, Karl-Anthony Towns found himself restricted by foul trouble, impacting his performance in the game.
The Knicks secured a 108-94 victory in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday, and while that’s certainly positive for them, it raises some concerns about Towns’ situation.
In Game 2, he was on the court for only 27 minutes, and this time, he managed just 26 minutes before fouls limited his involvement.
When asked about his frustration with the officiating, Towns replied, “What do you think?” It seems he’s had enough of the calls going against him. One play stood out—a loose ball foul against him by Joel Embiid. That call was reviewed but ultimately reversed, which allowed Towns a goal but sidelined him for the remainder of the half.
“I’m not surprised by anything anymore,” he stated, a sentiment that reflects a player who’s been through a lot recently.
At the end of the night, Towns recorded eight points, along with 12 rebounds and seven assists, not quite the impact fans hoped for.
Meanwhile, Josh Hart is determined to push through an injury. He sprained his left thumb in Game 2 but still took to the court for Game 3, noting, “I’ll take another look at it in the offseason.” He managed to put up 12 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists in 40 minutes. “People have played through injuries and even won championships,” he added.
An X-ray showed that his thumb wasn’t broken, although he had some tape on it during the game. Hart’s postseason has been solid overall, averaging 9.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.8 steals. Despite going 0-for-4 on three-pointers this time, he brushed off concerns about his thumb, stating, “Thumb is cool.”
Joel Embiid, who missed Game 2 due to an ankle sprain and lower back soreness, made his return for Game 3 after an emergency appendectomy earlier in the playoffs. He contributed 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting, along with six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.
In the absence of injured OG Anunoby, Myles McBride started and put up three points in 21 minutes of play.
