Trump’s Border Czar Discusses Deportation Plans

Tom Homan, who serves as President Donald Trump’s border czar, responded with “millions” when asked how many more individuals would need to be deported to restore legality in the U.S. during an interview with Will Cain on Fox News.

Homan addressed rumors suggesting that the administration was reducing immigration enforcement efforts. In fact, he indicated that he expected deportation numbers to rise, particularly in sanctuary cities. “We’re going to continue to surge resources because we know there’s a problem,” he stated, also noting that as border crossings decline, deportations would increase.

When pressed on specific numbers needed for deportation, Homan pointed out that there are roughly 12 million unauthorized immigrants in the country, and he suspects that figure has likely exceeded 20 million. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to apprehending as many individuals as possible.

He further claimed that the logistics of executing such a large-scale deportation wouldn’t deter their plans: “We’ll just do it,” Homan asserted. He reiterated that they would not abandon Trump’s promise of mass deportations.

As part of their plan, Homan confirmed they aim to hire 10,000 new immigration officers, with approximately 7,000 already on staff and another 3,000 undergoing training. He has shared with Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin that he believes most of these officers should be deployed to sanctuary cities.

Homan pointed out ongoing cooperation in states like Florida and Texas. However, he expressed concerns about states resisting collaboration, which he characterized as problematic. In those cases, he contended that local officials releasing unauthorized individuals pose a risk to public safety.

Recently, Homan issued a statement aimed at New York Governor Kathy Hochul, threatening to increase the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the city despite local resistance. In reaction to Hochul’s claim that unauthorized federal agents are not welcome, Homan replied, “We’re not asking either. We’re going to do it.”

He expressed frustration over the obstacles they face, emphasizing their determination to follow through with their strategy regardless.
