U.S. Targets Individuals and Entities for Supporting Iran’s Military Efforts
The United States has taken action against several individuals and organizations in China and the Middle East involved in Iranian attempts to acquire military equipment.
The State Department announced on Friday the imposition of sanctions on 11 organizations and 3 individuals from Iran, China, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that some of the companies involved are accused of supplying satellite imagery that has facilitated Iranian military assaults on U.S. forces in the region.
Rubio added that the sanctions also extend to those enabling Iran’s military in its efforts to obtain weapons and materials for its ballistic missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) programs. “Today’s action will hold China-based companies accountable for their support to Iran,” he stated. “The United States can take necessary actions against third-party organizations supporting Iran’s military operations.”
Additionally, the Department of the Treasury, through its Office of Foreign Assets Control, announced sanctions against 10 individuals and companies located in the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe. These entities are believed to be assisting Iranian military efforts to secure materials for UAVs and ballistic missile programs.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent remarked, “While the surviving Revolutionary Guard leaders are facing dire circumstances, the Treasury Department continues its vigorous campaign against those who threaten American safety.” He affirmed that under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. will persist in targeting foreign entities providing weapons to Iranian forces.
Rubio also expressed a sentiment of urgency while speaking to reporters in Rome. He mentioned the U.S. had hoped for a positive response from Iran regarding a peace proposal. “I need to know something today,” he stated, emphasizing the anticipation of a reply.
Meanwhile, President Trump referred to the recent U.S. actions against Iran as “just a love tap,” asserting that the ceasefire is still in place.
