Obama and David Tease New HBO Max Series
Former President Barack Obama and comedian Larry David shared a teaser for their upcoming HBO Max series, “Life, Larry, and Misadventures,” on Thursday.
In the video, Obama reflected on his experiences, saying, “I’ve sat across the table with some of the world’s toughest leaders and wrestled with some of the world’s most intractable problems. Nothing prepared me for working with Larry David.” He noted his role as producer allows him to avoid daily interactions, which he humorously acknowledged was a “big deal.”
David, in his classic style, referred to Obama as “44” and joked about wanting to be an emergency contact.
In the midst of promoting the series, David recalled feeling relieved about not being invited to Obama’s controversial 60th birthday party.
David quipped, “Well, if they see your name, they’ll want to help you more.”
As reported, the series aims to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary but takes an unexpected turn with David’s involvement. It features sketches based on historical situations, including one where David is depicted as a sailor just after the iconic VJ Day kiss in Times Square.
Noteworthy guest actors will include Bill Hader, Kathryn Hahn, Jon Hamm, Sean Hayes, and Obama himself will appear in one episode. “Life, Larry, and Misadventures” is set to debut on June 26, with weekly episodes following.
The teaser emerges shortly after news about the Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground, deciding to part ways with Netflix, despite their previous partnership.
On social media, reactions have been a bit mixed. Some expressed excitement, recalling that David had actually campaigned for Obama back in the 2008 New Hampshire primary, showing that this collaboration has a history behind it.
