On Sunday, President Trump expressed his intention to seize any leftover nuclear material in Iran, emphasizing that the U.S. is closely watching Iranian sites from space.
He highlighted that managing Iran’s enriched uranium is his utmost concern regarding the country.
In a televised interview, he stated, “One day you’ll understand,” referring to the work of Space Force and the surveillance capabilities in place.
He elaborated on the technology, saying it allows for precise tracking, adding, “If anyone approaches that location, we’ll know and respond accordingly.”
While considering options during the conflict in Iran, Trump has weighed the risky decision to deploy ground troops for the purpose of collecting nuclear material. However, he has yet to approve such measures.
The U.S. has previously conducted airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear sites during an operation in June.
According to Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, despite negotiations earlier this year, Iran claimed it retains enough enriched material for eleven nuclear weapons.
Both the United States and Israel are thought to have executed further strikes near Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Trump has long claimed that Iran’s nuclear capabilities are now buried beneath considerable debris.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on the efforts against Iran, stating, “This is a great accomplishment, but it’s not finished yet. There’s still enriched uranium that must be removed.”
He pointed out that to eliminate nuclear material, direct action is required.
Negotiations between the Trump administration and Iran have been ongoing for several weeks, with reports indicating a framework for peace talks, although both parties remain at odds over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The president acknowledged that reaching any kind of agreement with Iran will be a challenge, largely due to a history of broken commitments.
He stated that Iran has faced military defeats, suggesting that, despite their lack of awareness, they understand this when engaging with him. “We must not let Iran develop nuclear capabilities,” he asserted.
Trump noted, “They don’t have a navy or effective air power. Their leadership has diminished significantly; most of their top officials are gone.” He maintained that if U.S. forces withdrew, it would take Iran two decades to recover.
