Flair Critiques Doncic’s Absence
Ric Flair, the legendary wrestler, continues to express his thoughts on Luka Doncic, the Lakers’ superstar, who recently missed a playoff game due to a hamstring injury. On Monday morning, Flair made another jab, referencing his own experiences with injuries.
“You know,” Flair mentioned, “I’ve had cortisone shots and dealt with a broken ankle. So, honestly, I don’t feel much sympathy for the hamstring.”
This marks the fourth time in a week that Flair has criticized Doncic regarding his injuries. Previously, after the Lakers’ loss to the Thunder in their playoff series, Flair suggested trading Doncic since he couldn’t contribute due to his injury.
“Get in the game!” Flair tweeted. “Take some cortisone and tough it out! They pay you $50 million a year, and you’re not even there! Unbelievable!”
Flair wasn’t done there. Following another disappointing loss for the Lakers, which put them down 0-3 to the Thunder, he reiterated his frustration with Doncic. “@lukadoncic, I have just one thing to say: It’s unfortunate. Forty-six million a year and you can’t play? I’d jump off the Empire State Building if it meant getting on the court,” he quipped.
While Flair acknowledged he doesn’t know the full extent of Doncic’s injury, he also pointed out that he understood the Lakers’ need to protect their future. Yet, it’s clear he feels let down by the possibility of the Lakers’ season ending without Doncic stepping onto the court.
Doncic has been sidelined since April 2, and in a recent interview, he described the injury as unprecedented for him, expressing the immense frustration he feels. “I don’t think people realize how tough this is. All I want is to play basketball, especially now when it really matters,” he stated.
The Lakers are set to face the Thunder in Game 4 later on Monday, but Doncic is not anticipated to return for the crucial matchup.
