Discovery of Human Remains in Queens
According to reports, police in New York City reacted to emergency calls on Sunday, discovering what seemed to be skeletal human remains in a wooded area close to a children’s playground in Queens.
A witness noticed the body at the intersection of Sutter Avenue and North Conduit Avenue in Ozone Park around 10:45 a.m. and promptly dialed 911. The police later confirmed this information.
This location is only a mile away from Tudor Park, which features a playground and various sports fields.
The coroner is set to ascertain the age and gender of the remains.
Previously, an unidentified decomposed body was uncovered beneath the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Jackson Heights, another neighborhood in Queens, the publication noted.
Explosion Incident in Queens
In another event, police in Queens were involved in responding to a house explosion, which led to the evacuation of both adults and children from their homes, as stated by officers of the 106th Precinct.
The incident occurred on April 30th when officers answered an emergency call regarding a domestic dispute involving weapons.
As they approached the apartment, an explosion erupted, and the screams of a frightened woman and children were audible, prompting an urgent evacuation.
“The man had just set the house on fire. There’s an explosion,” a voice could be heard saying on the video from the scene.
In the chaos, a woman was heard shouting, “I can’t breathe! Where is my baby?” as smoke filled the surroundings.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch commended the officers for their bravery, which was crucial in saving the children and preventing further loss of life, despite some officers sustaining injuries.
Tisch also highlighted a significant decrease in crime in the city, noting a 9.5% drop in major crimes as of May 4.
