22-year-old college graduate, who recently got her dream job, reportedly killed by her boyfriend's father.

A recent college graduate, who had just begun her dream job, was reportedly shot and killed by her boyfriend’s father, arrested more than two months later for what authorities have termed an accidental shooting.

Whitney Robson, 22, was discovered with a gunshot wound in a home in Trussville, Alabama, around 9:30 p.m. on March 7. She was swiftly taken to a local hospital but unfortunately passed away there, according to police reports.

On Monday, following an “extensive investigation,” police arrested Jeffrey Scott Towers, 54, the father of Robson’s boyfriend, on a manslaughter charge. This was confirmed by the Trussville Police Department.

The coroner of Jefferson County ruled the shooting as accidental, though specifics surrounding how Towers allegedly shot Robson haven’t been disclosed.

Robson hailed from Virginia and graduated from Auburn University in May 2025 with a degree in interior design. Just weeks prior to her death, she excitedly started working as a trade consultant for Restoration Hardware.

Her obituary mentioned that Whitney was on track for success. “In her new role as a trade consultant for Restoration Hardware, this wonderful, independent woman was poised to find success in the interior design field, a job she had always wanted since her childhood watching HGTV,” it read.

Family members noted she was “faith-based” and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority during her time at college.

Describing her character, the family shared, “Whitney lived with unparalleled grace, keen and quiet attention and loyalty, boundless generosity, and an uncanny way of always knowing what she was supposed to do.”

Towers’ attorneys, John Amari and Dane Stewart, stated that their client is a “good citizen” with an unblemished criminal record.

They added, “What happened to Mr. Robson was a tragic event. We understand that the justice system must function, but we also know that the facts show that Mr. Towers has no criminal history, has been a productive and upstanding citizen throughout his life, and is not guilty of these charges.”

Towers has been booked into the Jefferson County Jail and later released on bail set at $30,000.
