Two Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Oregon
Authorities in Oregon have taken two individuals into custody following the shooting death of a father who was critically injured while in a car with his family. Marcio Garcia, after being shot in the head, managed to drive himself to the hospital shortly after leaving an In-N-Out drive-thru with his wife and their two young sons.
Ethan Adrian Armenta-Lagunas, 20, and Gabriel “Alex” Javier, 18, both residents of Salem, were arrested on Wednesday. They now face several charges, including first-degree assault, unlawful weapon use, criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering others in relation to the incident that occurred on February 9.
Following the arrests, the Kaiser Police discovered multiple firearms at Armenta-Lagunas’ residence. Javier was detained later on the same day.
Meanwhile, a third suspect, 22-year-old Anthony Taylor Manriquez, is still being sought by law enforcement and is considered armed and dangerous.
At the time of the shooting, Garcia, 28, was in the vehicle with his wife and their sons, aged 2 and 7, when the gunfire erupted near the fast-food restaurant. The bullet shattered the window of their car and struck Garcia in the head; fortunately, his family escaped unharmed.
His wife shared on a fundraising platform, “In the midst of chaos and fear, he somehow found the strength to get us from the scene to safety, even though he was injured and in pain.”
Images shared online depicted the bullet that had to be removed from Garcia’s head during a surgical procedure in February. Thankfully, he did not sustain significant brain damage and is now recovering at home. His wife expressed relief, stating, “The doctors confirmed what we had already believed. This is nothing short of a miracle. He now faces a long journey of rest, healing, and recovery.”
