PGA Championship Update
This morning marks the start of the third round of the PGA Championship, following a cut that narrowed the field from 156 to just 70 players.
At the top, we have two American golfers, Alex Smalley and Maverick McNeely, both sitting at 4 under after two rounds. It’s shaping up to be quite a competition, especially with a strong morning wind and tricky pin placements. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler called the setup “ridiculous in a way.” Notably, there are 44 players within five strokes of the lead. Rory McIlroy is tied for 30th, five strokes behind, while Scheffler finds himself at two under, still in contention.
However, not all golfers have had such luck. Bryson DeChambeau struggled in the opening rounds and, for the second year consecutively, missed the majors. Similarly, Garrick Higo missed advancing to the third round by a single stroke, compounded by a two-stroke penalty for being late to his tee time on Thursday.
