Update as of 1:36 PM: Authorities have evacuated Crestview Elementary and Mountain View Elementary Schools, directing students to Simi Valley High School due to an ongoing fire, as reported by Cal FIRE.

The fire, described as a “fast-moving brush fire,” started near Sandy Avenue in Simi Valley, according to Ventura County Emergency. Currently, it covers about 720 acres and poses a threat to nearby structures. Evacuation orders and warnings have been put in place for the affected areas.

“The fire is currently estimated at 720 acres and is threatening structures. Evacuation Orders and Warnings have been issued for the area,” stated Ventura County Emergency.

By 12:50 PM, officials mandated evacuations in Simi Valley, noting a 184-acre fire that remains uncontained as of Monday morning. They emphasized the urgent nature of the situation.

“Immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW. The area is lawfully closed to public access,” Cal FIRE announced, pinpointing multiple zones in Simi Valley affected by the evacuation order.

Cal FIRE urged residents to evacuate immediately, particularly in these areas:

  • Meadow Mist Court
  • Hazelridge Court
  • Trickling Brooke Ct.
  • Rocking Horse Drive
  • Casual Ct.
  • Rambling Rd.
  • Meander Drive

At present, around 200 firefighters are responding to the “Sandy fire,” assisted by three air tankers and six helicopters, actively working from both the air and ground to contain the blaze.
