Detective Mark Fuhrman from the OJ Simpson murder trial passes away at 74

Mark Fuhrman, the former LAPD detective known for his pivotal role in the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial, has passed away at 74. Lynette Acevedo, the chief deputy coroner for Kootenai County, Idaho, shared the news with Fox News on Monday, noting that Fuhrman had died the previous week.

According to TMZ, his death was attributed to advanced throat cancer.

Fuhrman became a prominent figure during the trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman when he discovered a bloody glove at Simpson’s residence. Prosecutors claimed that the glove corresponded with others found at the crime scenes.

However, his involvement sparked major controversy when recordings surfaced, revealing him using racial slurs, which significantly damaged his credibility. The defense team argued this undermined his reliability, suggesting that he might have planted the glove to frame Simpson.

Despite previously denying any misconduct while under oath, Fuhrman was eventually accused of lying and was convicted of perjury in 1996, making him the sole individual linked to the case to face criminal charges related to it.

After retiring from the LAPD in 1995, he continued to be a public figure, diving into careers as a true crime author and a talk radio host.
