Bill Belichick claims CBS was dishonest in its reporting of an edited interview

Bill Belichick Criticizes CBS Over Recent Interview

Bill Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl champion, has accused CBS of being misleading in a high-profile interview from 2025, where his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, seemingly curtailed questions regarding their relationship.

“I felt the interview was quite deceptive,” Belichick mentioned during a recent episode of “Hangout with Sean Hannity” that aired Tuesday morning. He added, “I requested the transcript from them, but they’ve refused to provide it.”

During the CBS News Sunday Morning interview, Hudson was posed a question by anchor Tony Dokoupil about Belichick and what he thought of their meeting. Hudson remarked that Belichick “doesn’t talk about this.” Reports indicate Hudson interrupted multiple times and even became confrontational, which postponed the interview by around 30 minutes. This segment drew significant criticism towards Hudson.

CBS Faces Controversy with Bill Belichick

Belichick had agreed to speak with CBS Sunday Morning, intending to discuss his memoir, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Soccer.” He stated he was told the focus would solely be on the book. Furthermore, he clarified that Hudson did not “deflect” the question about their relationship; rather, she attempted to redirect the conversation away from it. Belichick accused CBS of fabricating a “false narrative” by releasing clips that were “selectively edited.”

He remarked, “While some footage seems to dodge questions about how we met, I was upfront regarding that—we met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021,” referencing the controversy.

On “The Hangout,” he expressed his astonishment at CBS’s journalistic approach, highlighting that it has long been seen as a reputable news outlet. “It’s hard to believe they would act this way,” he commented.

Examining the Relationship

Belichick, who is 74, and Hudson, a 25-year-old former beauty queen, started making headlines with their relationship in 2024. He expressed uncertainty regarding CBS’s editing practices, noting that this isn’t the first time they faced scrutiny—similar issues arose in interviews with politicians like former Vice President Kamala Harris and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Belichick said, “This isn’t an isolated event for them. I’m uncertain what their policy is.” He added, “Unfortunately, we keep encountering more editing issues, some spanning several years.”

Fox News Digital has sought a comment from CBS News. Previous to the backlash regarding Belichick’s interview, CBS defended their approach, stating, “My agreement to converse with Mr. Belichick was for an extensive interview without preconditions or limitations. This was affirmed to the publisher both before and after the interview.”

For those interested, the full conversation between Hannity and Belichick will be available in upcoming episodes of “Hangout with Sean Hannity.”
