The FBI is currently looking into a livestream recorded by the shooters during a disturbing attack on a mosque in San Diego, as confirmed by officials.
This unsettling footage has been making its rounds on social media, capturing the chaos of the event and the shooters’ eventual suicide.
The video, seemingly shot from a body camera, features 17-year-old Kane Clark and his 18-year-old accomplice, Caleb Velasquez, both armed and firing at the Islamic center in San Diego.
One particularly chilling moment shows them standing over a body amidst a pool of blood before they escape in a BMW.
After fleeing the scene, the video shifts to what looks like Clark in the driver’s seat, brandishing a handgun. He shoots Velasquez in the head, reloads, fires again, and then turns the gun on himself.
Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in this attack at the mosque.
Authorities discovered both suspects dead in the BMW just a few blocks away from the Islamic center. Law enforcement sources reported that at least one of the shooters left a note expressing racial pride after grabbing weapons from his parents’ residence.
Officials found anti-Muslim rhetoric scrawled on the suspects’ vehicle, and the phrase “hate speech” was inscribed on the firearm used in the attack.
At the scene where the body of the shooter was located, authorities recovered a shotgun and a gas can adorned with an “SS” sticker, which is generally connected to Nazi symbolism.
San Diego Police responded to the mosque around 11:43 a.m. on a Monday, following reports of an active shooter.
According to Police Chief Scott Wall, three adult males succumbed to their gunshot wounds outside the center.
“Fortunately, all the children are unharmed. Our thoughts are with the families as they process this heartbreaking news,” Wall stated.
He noted that officers arrived on the scene merely four minutes after the initial alert.
One of the victims served as a security guard at the mosque and was recognized for providing critical support.
“It could have been much worse,” Wall commented during a press briefing.
No children were reported injured, and the FBI is aiding in the ongoing investigation.
