Mitch McConnell’s Recent Hearing Performance Raises Eyebrows
The latest procedural blunders by Mitch McConnell are adding fuel to the debate on term limits. At a recent committee hearing with Army Secretary Pete Hegseth, the 84-year-old senator from Kentucky attempted to wrap things up prematurely by thanking everyone and declaring the meeting over.
He was interrupted by staffers, reminding him that a few senators still had questions to ask.
This moment quickly went viral, intensifying scrutiny over McConnell’s mental sharpness and overall fitness.
On “Pat Gray Unleashed,” host Pat Gray reacted to this incident.
“I just filled up the Dependents,” Pat joked, mimicking McConnell’s Southern drawl.
Co-host Keith Marinak viewed the situation as indicative of McConnell’s decline, both physically and mentally.
“His head seemed a bit confused,” he noted, pointing out the illogical transition in McConnell’s remarks—from suggesting Sen. Murkowski take over to claiming Hegseth needed to fly to China with the president.
“I don’t know if McConnell really knew what he was trying to say,” Keith added.
“He didn’t do that. He didn’t do that,” chimed Pat.
Keith remarked that the staffers who had to remind McConnell about the ongoing questions were essentially running the show. “That kid is a senator,” he quipped.
“Yes, exactly,” Pat agreed. “This is what happens when you have elected officials in their 80s, 90s, or even 100s running the country.”
He acknowledged the dilemma facing the nation regarding whether to replace someone like McConnell, mainly because the alternatives may not be better.
“You can have either Democratic communists or incredibly old senators,” Pat remarked, adding, “I really feel for him. If he weren’t such a high-ranking U.S. senator overseeing committees and hearings, he’d likely be retired by now.”
“He should just go home and enjoy the rest of his life,” he suggested.
