Recall of Electric Kettles Due to Safety Risks
Over 113,000 electric kettles sold at Costco and Home Goods have been recalled due to concerns that their handles may detach, posing a serious burn risk, with some incidents reportedly resulting in second-degree burns, as noted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
This recall, which was made public on May 14, affects the Zwilling JA Henckels Enfinisy Kettle and Enfinisy Kettle Pro models. Consumers have expressed concerns after several reports stated that the handles could break off, leading to potentially severe injuries.
According to the CPSC, around 113,440 kettles have been recalled in the United States, with an additional 43,963 units sold in Canada and 48 in Mexico.
The company indicated they received 163 reports of loose or detached handles, including five instances of handles completely separating and one case of a second-degree burn.
The affected kettle models include the 1.5L ENFINIGY electric kettle, specifically model numbers 53101-200, 53101-201, 53101-500, 53101-501, 53101-502, 53101-503, and 53101-504. You can find the model number and the “ZWILLING” logo on the bottom of the kettle and on its power base.
The kettles were available in various colors, such as black, silver, rose gold, and white, featuring the ZWILLING brand logo prominently displayed. They were sold between December 2019 and February 2026, with prices ranging from $120 to $200, at both physical stores and online.
Customers are urged to stop using these kettles immediately and to contact the company for a full refund. U.S. consumers are also encouraged to check the brand’s website for additional guidance on safely disposing of the recalled products, which includes unplugging the kettle, cutting its cord, and uploading a photo as part of the process.
As of now, Costco representatives have not provided any comments regarding this issue.
