Violent Chaos Erupts in Norfolk, Virginia
On Sunday night in Norfolk, Virginia, what started as a peaceful evening quickly spiraled into chaos at a street takeover.
A sizable crowd gathered at the intersection, with reports of potential fires being set. One individual was even spotted wielding what appeared to be a flamethrower.
Following the events, a 19-year-old from Virginia Beach, named Isaiah Duncan-Simmons, was arrested. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and negligent damage after igniting a fire.
According to the Norfolk Police, they received multiple reports about “large gatherings of people and vehicles driving erratically at intersections.”
The incident unfolded around 8:30 PM at the intersection of Redgate Avenue and Greenway Court in West Ghent.
Video footage captured a masked person holding what could be a flamethrower, directing flames into the sky. Another clip showed an individual pouring fuel onto the ground and igniting it immediately.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this alarming event.
This isn’t Norfolk’s first encounter with such disturbances. In March, an unauthorized gathering outside a mall resulted in gunfire, injuring several and leaving seven people dead. The investigation into that incident is still ongoing.
Norfolk Police are asking anyone with videos or photos of the recent chaos to come forward to assist with their investigation.
